Tips To Extend the Battery Life Of Your E-Cigarette
With residual costs for eLiquids and cartomizers, E-Cigarettes aren’t the most affordable hobby to take up. That’s why one of the very first product specifications people look for when selecting their electronic cigarette is battery life.
Since E-Cigs moved away from disposable batteries, they now include lithium-ion polymer batteries. While those handy batteries are rechargeable, the battery life on them eventually runs dry, as most manufacturers claim the battery on their units offer around 300 charging cycles.
Luckily, we’ve provided certain tricks and tips vapers can take to keep their batteries long as possible, along with a handy chart showing the three main battery sizes (650MAH, 900MAH, 1100MAH) and the variables affecting their respective battery life.
Turn Off The Vaporizer
For many people, it’s second nature to turn off appliances like the television and coffee machine after usage, in order to extend their product life. Similar tactics should be applied to E-Cigarettes. When users are done puffing, best practice should be to turn off the unit completely. Even though many devices have auto-kill, the feature doesn't typically activate until 15 or 20 minutes after initiation.
Unplug After Use
As mentioned above, users looking to conserve battery life are recommended to turn E-Cigs off, immediately after use. Additionally, don’t leave your E-Cig charging overnight, no matter how convenient that might be. Overcharging your E-Cigarette is one of the quickest ways to drain your long-term battery life.
Unscrew Your Cartomize
Because the cartomizer includes the E-Cig’s battery, keeping them attached after use only deteriorates the long-term battery life. When you’re not vaping, unscrew your cartomizer. Simple as that.
Priority Storage & Usage Temperate
In between puffing, E-Cigarette smokers are recommended to store their devices in cooler areas, where temperatures never get too hot. Exposure to high temperatures can cause serious damage to the device, ultimately shortening its lifespan.
Don't Drain Battery
Beyond the specifics above, one key battery preservation tip is to make sure you never let your battery get fully drained. The reason for this is that when the device is fully drained, the battery needs to work twice as hard to recharge. Most manufacturers recommend recharging your E-Cig at around 40-50% battery life, never letting it drain lower than that.
Keep Batteries Clean
Have you noticed the threads connecting your E-Cigarette to the cartomizer have gotten pretty dirty over time? That's dried up dust and eLiquid; a grimy combination that's eventually going to build up enough to clog the holes under your E-Cig's threading. That blockage prevents proper use - making the battery work harder than it needs to and limiting long-term battery life. To prevent this buildup, make sure the threads on your E-Cig are cleaned weekly.
While there are clearly certain caveats to consider when charging your E-Cig, one of the most important things users can do to extend their battery life is vape frequently. Like your phone battery, the battery in E-Cigarettes thrive on frequent use, increasing lifespan with more puffs. This doesn’t mean users should vape endlessly, but rather keep their device ready to use.
